Dan Miller

The Progressive Farmer

Dan Miller is a senior editor with The Progressive Farmer magazine. Based in Birmingham, Ala., Dan has been writing for more than two decades—most of that time with Progressive Farmer. He has been honored with numerous writing awards, including two Oscars in Agriculture and Writer of the Year, a distinction given by the American Agricultural Editor's Association.

He is currently the machinery and tools features editor, writes home and farmstead stories, plans and prepares how-to projects and videos for the magazine and is the lead writer for the magazine's Idea House and Farmstead program.

The Progressive Farmer, established in 1886, is the nations largest and fastest growing publication serving rural land owners across Amerca's countryside for more than 120 years. Our readership consists of more than 3,000,000 folks that love, live, and possibly work on the land. Miriam Lauer

Horse & Pony News, Inc.

Miriam Lauer is an equestrian and co-owner of Horse & Pony News, Inc. Florida’s Oldest All Breed Equestrian Newspaper, located near Tampa, Fla. Miriam has been involved with horses all of her life and for many years raised, trained and showed Arabian Horses. After trying several riding disciplines over the years, she is now an avid trail rider and also enjoys working cattle on a friend’s ranch. She divides her time between Horse & Pony News, her two grandsons and her dependable trail riding Quarter Horse, C.T. In December 2006, Miriam and C.T. participated in the “Great Florida Cattle Drive Of ’06,” a five-day historical reenactment of the Great Florida Cattle Drives of the 1800s. Five hundred riders drove 700 head of cattle 70 miles across some of Florida’s most beautiful cattle country that may soon be lost forever to pressures of Florida development.

Horse & Pony News will celebrate its 40th Anniversary in February of 2008. It is published twice monthly (on the first and third Fridays), and is filled with helpful articles and information on local issues and events, training, veterinary care and much more.

 


Lucy Acton

MidAtlantic Thoroughbred

Lucy Acton serves as editor of Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred, a monthly magazine published by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association to promote Thoroughbred breeding and racing in the Mid-Atlantic region. Ms. Acton has been employed by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association since 1985, and previously served as managing editor of The Maryland Horse as well as Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred. A graduate of Duke University, where she majored in English, she began her career as a features writer for the Baltimore Evening Sun.

MidAtlantic Thoroughbred, first published in 1991 as two annuals, this periodical totally devoted to racing and breeding in the region was so well received that in May of 1993 it was expanded to bimonthly, and in September of 1997 to monthly.

Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred brings its readers valuable news, information and insight concerning the vital racing and breeding-for-racing business.
